Welcome to Bruce Bignold Paintings
I've been producing paintings of landscapes and portraits from my cramped and rather overcrowded studio just south of Oxford for several years now.
I work from photos and sittings in the case of portraits, finished off usually in oils or pencil. With landscapes I'll work straight onto the canvas at the site or use sketches and photos later in the studio.
My prices are about £100 for a drawing or sketch and £200 to £800 for a finished painting. This is dependent on the time it has taken and materials used of course. Price is agreed before a job is started and is inclusive.
I went to Hornsey Art College, then Leicester Polytechnic in the early 1970s. Then did a variety of jobs including gardener, taxidriver, cook and from time to time drummer in several long defunct rock bands!
For over fifteen years I was a freelance illustrator living and working in London.
Then I became more and more interested in working in oils again. Sold a few paintings in a local gallery, then started to take it seriously.
Since then my work gets sold at home and abroad. London's just down the road. Both the M40 and A34 are close at hand, so access to my studio is pretty easy. Though if you come to see a work in progress, please ring first, we've a big hairy Alsatian who's always very interested in visitors!
I've been a road cyclist now for over thirty years and recently have started mountain biking using the the bike to get to inaccessable crags and valleys for sketches and photographs. This has been a revelation for me as even being rain soaked and mud splattered you can still pick up some usable images!
As always, any painting ordered within 100 miles is delivered FREE!!
Once again I'm exhibiting with six other artists in the lovely village of Brightwell cum Sotwell near Wallingford, Oxon. as part of Oxford's Artweeks 2012. We are at the Stewart Village Hall, OX10 0RY
from Friday 25th of May until Sunday 27th. 10.00am until 6.00pm, please come and see us if you are in the area.
